COVID-19 RISK ASSESSMENT

For Reopening Classes – September 2020 – Henlow Pavilion

 

Mad Hatters Theatre School operate on a Thursday afternoon between 4-5pm and a Friday evening between 4-8pm.  They hire the Lower and Upper halls at Henlow Pavilion. Henlow Pavilion operates as parish and community hall Monday-Sunday for residents of Henlow and those of the greater local area, mainly for private events.  All Mad Hatters Theatre School staff and attendees will be aware of the below risks and receive the information and training relevant to them.

Contact with someone who has coronavirus – COVID-19Students, Staff, Visitors to Henlow Pavilion.  Extended members of staff, students, visitors’ bubblesAll will be told not to attend classes and to self-isolate in line with current government guidelines. Weekly health questionnaires will be issued for all participants.  Failure to complete the questionnaire will result in the student being denied entry to classes.  Also, weekly reminders about this particular ‘risk’ will be sent via email.

No parents will be allowed to enter the building, just students.

If a member of Mad Hatters Theatre School develops symptoms during a class, all parents will be called to collect all pupils and they will be taken home and advised to self-isolate and contact the NHS via the test and trace service. Henlow Pavilion will be contacted immediately for a deep clean to commence, and Mad Hatters Theatre School will suspend classes until a negative test result has been received from the person in question.

Everyone associated with Mad Hatters Theatre School will be asked to sanitise their hands-on arrival using the facilities at Henlow Pavilion. Mad Hatters Theatre School will provide addition PPE for staff and pupils where needed. Students will not need to bring any equipment with them, apart from a named water bottle, dance shoes, face covering (if required) and a small bag for the items to be stored in during classes. No food will be bought into classes.

The spreading of the virus through excessive mixing of students and staffMad Hatters Theatre School attendees.Students are placed in ‘Hatter’ age groups. These will have separate entrances and exits at staggered drop off and collection times and there will be a one-way system in place for all classes.

Students will stay in their designated groups or ‘Bubbles’ and will be escorted between rooms via a one-way system by a member of staff wearing a face covering or visor.

Before and after each ‘bubble’ or group has been relocated via the one way system to another lesson in another room, each room will be cleaned by Mad Hatters Theatre School.  All commonly touched surfaces like door handles and railings will be cleaned, all floors will be cleaned and any props issued to students will be cleaned and stored away for 72 hours before the next use. Staff assisting with cleaning are to wear a face covering or visor, gloves and an apron.

Each ‘bubble’ or group of students will have dedicated toilet facilities (including 1 toilet and one sink per ‘bubble’) assigned to them and will only be permitted to use these facilities one at a time to avoid crowding. Student toilets will be located on the ground floor.  Staff will have a dedicated toilet away from the student toilets.  This will be a toilet on the 1st floor to be used one at a time to avoid crowding.

All toilets and sinks will be cleaned by Mad Hatters Theatre School between each ‘bubble’ or group.

A student requires first aid treatment during a classFirst aider or injured person.First aid requires close contact. The first aider will wear full PPE provided by Mad Hatters Theatre School. Including face covering, visor, apron and gloves.

If the person who requires first aid is able and willing to wear a face covering or visor, we will encourage this, where possible.

If social distancing measures are ‘broken’ for longer than 30 seconds (either wearing or not wearing PPE) a log will be made of this for Test and Trace purposes and maintained for 21 days in line with GDPR.

Emergency evacuation of the building due to fire or riskAll Mad Hatters Theatre School attendeesHenlow Pavilion have their fire evacuation procedures in place which are followed by Mad Hatters Theatre School. There is adequate space for all members to distance while outside of the building awaiting emergency services.
