COVID-19 POLICY

Students and Student Family Members

 

In this policy, you’ll find all the essential guidelines students and student family Members should follow whilst attending in person/physical classes at Mad Hatters Theatre School, during the coronavirus outbreak.  Please note that this is a working Policy therefore may be updated at anytime in line with current government guidance and regulations, please check regularly in order to stay updated.

 

Policy brief & purpose:

This policy includes the measures we are actively taking to mitigate the spread of coronavirus within our out of school setting (OOSS). You are kindly requested to follow all these rules diligently, to sustain a healthy and safe education space in this unique environment. It’s important that we all respond responsibly and transparently to these health precautions.  We assure you that we will always treat your private health and personal data with high confidentiality and sensitivity.

 

This coronavirus (COVID-19) company policy is susceptible to changes with the introduction of additional governmental guidelines. If so, you will be updated you as soon as possible, by email or phone.

 

Scope

This policy applies to all students and student family members who attend classes at Mad Hatters Theatre School. We strongly recommend to all family members whom are responsible for attending Mad Hatters Theatre School for pick-ups and drop offs to read through this action plan as well, to ensure we collectively and uniformly respond to this challenge.

 

Policy elements

Here, we outline the required actions students and student family members should take to protect themselves, their class mates and staff of Mad Hatters Theatre School from a potential coronavirus infection.

 

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Awareness

For your knowledge, Mad Hatters Theatre School is actively taking part in the NHS Test and Trace process.

 

If you the student have coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms, such as a sudden or continuous cough/fever/loss of taste and/or smell or any other listed symptoms on the NHS website, feel poorly or generally unwell you must:

  • Self-isolate immediately for 10 days.
  • Get tested as soon as possible via the NHS Test and Trace process
  • Contact and inform Hollie Milburn, COVID-19 Designated Lead (COVID-19 DL) so that Test and Trace Procedure can be put into place for the entire of Mad Hatters Theatre School. Plus inform them of the results of your COVID-19 test when you receive them.
  • You will be asked not to come into physical contact with any other students or student family members or staff members during this time.
  • You can return to classes at Mad Hatters Theatre School only afterthe 10-day period has passed and you feel well, or if you receive a negative COVID-19 test result and you feel well.

 

If you the student have a positive COVID-19 diagnosis:

  • You are to self-isolate immediately for a minimum of 10 days and until you are fully recovered
  • You are to contact and inform the COVID-19 DL so that the Test and Trace Procedure can be put into action and for Mad Hatters Theatre School to seek further advice on continuing operation.
  • You will be asked not to come into physical contact with any other students or student family members or staff members during this time.
  • You can return to classes at Mad Hatters Theatre School only afteryou’ve fully recovered

 

If anyone in the students’ household/support bubble has coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms, such as cough/sneezing/fever/loss of taste and/or smell or any other listed symptoms on the NHS website, feel poorly or generally unwell you must:

  • Self-isolate for 14 days.
  • Get the person affected tested as soon as possible via the NHS Test and Trace process.
  • Contact and inform your COVID-19 DLand arrange sick leave or request to work from home, plus inform them of the results from your COVID-19 test.

 

If anyone in your household has a positive COVID-19 diagnosis:

  • You are to self-isolate for 14 days.
  • Contact and inform your COVID-19 DL so that the Test and Trace Procedure can be put into action and for Mad Hatters Theatre School to seek further advice on continuing operation.
  • You can return to your duties within Mad Hatters Theatre School only after you have self-isolated for 14 days and have not developed symptoms plushave received a COVID-19 test and the results have come back negative.

 

You will also be asked not to come into physical contact with any colleagues, students or student family members during this time.

 

If you the parent/family member are contacted by the NHS Test and Trace Service regarding any one of your household that come into contact with anyone who has received a positive COVID-19 diagnosis you must:

  • Self-isolate the whole household for 14 days
  • Get all members of your household tested via the NHS Test and Trace process.
  • Contact and inform the COVID-19 DL. Plus inform them of the results of your COVID-19 test when they are available.
  • You will be asked not to come into physical contact with any other students or student family members or staff members during this time.

 

If you the student, parent/family member have recently returned from any country that is not on the British Government Coronavirus (COVID-19) Travel Corridor list, you will be asked you self isolate 14 calendar days, and return to Mad Hatters Theatre School, only if you are fully asymptomatic. You will also be asked not to come into physical contact with any staff, students or student family members during this time.  Any classes missed due to this will not be refundable.  We will try to make classes available online however please note that this may not be possible.

 

If Mad Hatters Theatre School has a positive case of COVID-19 reported by any of its attendees or staff members, ALL affected Bubbles will subsequently have to close operation for up to 14 days (self-isolation period).  If in the case where ALL bubbles have been affected and Mad Hatters is forced to suspend service in person, classes will be replaced (where possible) with online classes for the duration of suspended service and will return as soon as the isolation period for the school has taken place.  No fees will be refunded if any classes cannot be replaced.

 

If your Mad Hatter has to self-isolate due to being in contact with a person who has tested positive for Covid-19 from outside of Mad Hatters Theatre School and its classes, no fees will be refunded for classes missed due to isolation.  We will try to make classes available online however please note that this may not be possible.

 

If there are local or national lockdowns due to COVID-19 then Mad Hatters will suspend all ‘in person’/physical classes and replace them with an online schedule (where possible) as fas as we can.  No fees will be refunded if any classes cannot be replaced.

 

General Hygiene Rules

Student:

  • Will find hand sanitizer stations around the venue.
  • Are to use provided hand sanitizer upon arrival at the venue.
  • Are to use provided hand sanitizer before and after each class.
  • Are to wash your hands after using the toilet, before eating, and if you cough/sneeze into your hands (follow the 20 second hand washing guidance).
  • Are asked to cough/sneeze into your sleeve, preferably into your elbow. If you use a tissue, discard it properly and clean/sanitize your hands immediately.
  • Are to avoid touching your face, particularly eyes, nose, and mouth with your hands to prevent from getting infected.
  • No student should give a face covering to a teacher or staff member to hold/care for or dispose of. The student is to place the face covering either in a small plastic bag which is kept on their person or in the bin provided.  After so, they should sanitize their hands immediately.
  • Are to tell a member of staff if you find yourself coughing/sneezing on a regular basis within the venue. In this case you are to avoid close physical contact with classmates and other student family members and staff and take extra precautionary measures (such as wearing extra PPE precautions).  Your parents will be called and you will be asked to go home until your symptoms disappear.

 

Taking part in classes within a designated venue:

When you are taking part in ‘in person/physical’ classes at our designated venues you, the students and student family members are required to follow the following guidelines and conduct yourself appropriately to help greatly mitigate the spread of coronavirus amongst your classmates, other student family members and staff.

  • Each Mad Hatter Group will be considered a ‘Bubble’. Each Bubble will be kept to itself and will not mix with any other bubbles within Mad Hatters Theatre School.
  • Students are to arrive at the venue ON TIME. If you arrive early you are asked to stay outside the building (either in your cars or standing outside), socially distancing yourselves from any other students and their family members.  We are running a staggered schedule to minimize parent/carers and other family members congregating before and after classes. However, if you do decide to wait outside PLEASE RESPECT THE SOCIAL DISTANCING REQUIREMENT OF 2 METERS and if you wish to wear face coverings, please do.
  • There will be in strict one-way system for entrances and exits in the venue. Please adhere to this.
  • Please ensure all students have gone to the toilet before they arrive at the venue as toilets will NOT be available for ANYONE outside of the strict Mad Hatter Group Bubbles. This includes adults.  Of course, toilet facilities will be available for all students whilst in classes but on a one at a time basis. Each bubble will have its own designated toilet facility that will be cleaned before and after each bubble has started/finished use.
  • No ‘additional’ members of families are permitted into the building at any time, unless with express permission.
  • Students are to arrive at the designated venue dressed in uniform, with their hair already up and out of faces, with as few items as possible and any items you do bring with you are to stay in your own workspace square and not leave this until you have finished your class.

 

Items permitted within the building:

  • Water bottles (clearly labelled)
  • Outside shoes and Jazz shoes
  • Face coverings (bring if desired. Only required for children over and not including 11yrs) with a small plastic bag or envelope to store the mask in when mask is not being used.
  • A small bag (needs to be able to store outside shoes and other items listed above – clearly labelled)

 

Items not permitted within the building:

  • Student Mobile Phones
  • Coats
  • Large bags
  • Food – There will be NO snack breaks whilst we are running on a two lesson schedule per group/bubble.

 

  • Students will have a workspace square of 2×2 meters for Dance and 1×1 meters for Acting marked out by coloured floor markings. Students are to stay within these workspace squares and if you need to leave this space you are to see permission from your class teacher. If you wish to wear your face covering outside of this workspace square please do.
  • Students will be allocated workspace boxes each week. This is to help us with Test and Trace Process.
  • Students are to maintain social distancing and stay a minimum of 2 meters away from colleagues, students and student family members as all times.
  • If you need to ‘break’ this social distance, then you are required to wear a combination of PPE i.e. face covering if over 11 years old (and not including 11 years old). PPE will be provided to you by Mad Hatters Theatre School upon request.
  • If social distancing is ‘broken’ for longer than 30secs – 1minute wearing PPE or not, the staff member in charge of the bubble at the time will inform Hollie Milburn and log this in the Social Distancing Breakers Log. All details will be kept securely following GDPR regulations.
  • If equipment, is to be provided by staff members to students, i.e. scripts, students are to ensure that it stays with them/goes home with them.
  • Staff are not permitted to keep anything for the students that cannot be cleaned and left for 72 hours after use.
